Friend is Professor and Chair of the Department of Geography at Minnesota State University, Founding Director of the Minnesota Modeling and Simulation Center, Director of Earth Science Programs, and Co-Chair of the President's Strategic Priority Task Force on Global Solutions.Thomas Kohler is Associate Director in the Centre for Development and Environment and lecturer at the Department of Geography at the University of Bern, Switzerland. He is Managing Director of the International Mountain Society (IMS), publisher of the journal Mountain Research and Development. Martin F. Price is Professor of Mountain Studies and Director of the Centre for Mountain Studies, Perth College, University of the Highlands and Islands, UK, where he holds the UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Mountain Development.Larry W. Price is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Geography at Portland State University. His best-known book is Mountains and Man (1981).
Larry Price has been a poet, a performance artist, a book designer, a publisher and a graphic artist. Born in California, he went to school in Santa Barbara and San Francisco, living in the City until 1988, when he moved to New Jersey, where he lives still, working as the Creative Director in a design studio. He founded GAZ in 1982, publishing work by, among others, Harryman, Day, Fuller, Watten and Pearson. His own books include Proof (Tuumba 1982), Crude Thinking (GAZ 1985), No (world version) (Zasterle 1990), Circadium (Ubu Editions 2002), and The Quadragene (Roof 2008).
