Daniel J. Inman received his Ph.D. from Michigan State University in Mechanical Engineering in 1980 and is the Director of the Center for Intelligent Material Systems and Structures and the G.R. Goodson Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech. Since 1980, he has published six books (on vibration, control, statics, and dynamics), eight software manuals, 20 book chapters, over 195 journal papers and 380 proceedings papers, given 34 keynote or plenary lectures, graduated 45 Ph.D. students and supervised more than 65 MS degrees.
