Herbert Zettl is Professor Emeritus of the Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts Department at San Francisco State University (SFSU). He taught there for many years in the fields of video production and media aesthetics, and headed the Institute of International Media Communication. For his academic contributions, he received the California State Legislature Distinguished Teaching Award. He also received the Distinguished Education Service Award from the Broadcast Education Association. Before joining SFSU's faculty, Zettl worked at KOVR (StocktonSacramento) and as a producer-director at KPIX, the CBS affiliate in San Francisco.
