William Richard Hendee was born in Owosso, Mich. on January 1, 1938. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree at Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., Hendee enrolled at the University of Texas and earned his Ph.D. in 1962. Along with a successful career as a medical physics educator and university official, Hendee has written and edited a number of books, drawing on his extensive background in the medical field. Some of the books Hendee has contributed to include Health Effects of Exposure to Low-Level Ionizing Radiation, The Health of Adolescents, Radiation Therapy Physics, and Electronic Imaging in Medicine.
