Johnny L. Matson received his Ph.D. in 1976 and has spent his career as a researcher and academically involved in the training of doctoral level clinical psychologists specializing in developmental disabilities. He is the major professor of 44 Ph.D.s, many of whom have served as professors in various universities (e.g., Auburn University, Indiana University Medical School, Johns Hopkins University Medical School, University of Pittsburg Medical School). Dr. Matson is editor-in-chief of two journals, which he founded, Research in Autism Spectrum Disorders and Research in Developmental Disabilities, and is the author of more than 500 publications, including 34 books and 16 tests. He… previously served on the psychology and psychiatric faculties at the University of Pittsburgh. For the last 23 years, he has been a professor at Louisiana State University. He is currently Professor and Distinguished Research Master, and Director of Clinical Training in the Department of Psychology at LSU.Peter Sturmey received his Ph.D. in 1985 from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. He is Professor of Psychology at Queens College and the Graduate Center, City College of New York and a visiting professor at The Department of Dentistry, University College London. He has published 14 books, approximately 140 peer reviewed articles and 40 chapters. He is an Associate Editor for Research in Developmental Disabilities and Research in Autism Spectrum Disorders and a member of approximately 12 other editorial boards. He publishes widely on developmental disabilities such as autism, clinical case formulation, staff and parent training, restrictive behavioral interventions and behavior analytic approaches to psychopathology.
