Dare Wright was born in Canada and raised in the United States. She started her career as a photographer's fashion model, then went around to the other side of the camera and became a highly successful freelance photographer. Her photographs appeared in such magazines as TOWN AND COUNTRY, GOOD HOUSEKEEPING, VOGUE, and HARPER'S BAZAAR. She created several books about Edith and her friends, including the classic favorites The Lonely Doll and Edith and Mr. Bear.Mary Batten is an award-winning writer for television, film and publishing. Her many writing projects have taken her into tropical rainforests, astronomical observatories, scientific laboratories and medical research centers. She was nominated for an Emmy for her work on the Children's Television Workshop's 3-2-1 CONTACT series.
