Larry Giunipero is the professor of supply chain management at Florida State University. He holds a BS from Purdue University, an MA from Ball State University, and a PhD from Michigan State University. He is a member of the Institute of Supply Management and the American Marketing Association. Larry has about 46 publications in the JOURNAL OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT, INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SERVICES TECHNOLOGY & MANAGEMENT, INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF OPERATIONS & PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT, INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF PHYSICAL DISTRIBUTION & LOGISTICS, DECISION SCIENCES, and JOURNAL OF PURCHASING & MATERIALS MANAGEMENT. He has presented refereed papers at numerous conferences, including: International Supply Management Conference Proceedings, National Academy of Management, International Supply Chain Management Proceedings, and North American Research Symposium on Purchasing & Supply Management Proceedings. Larry is the author of seven books and has been a member or chair of about 21 doctoral dissertations.

Robert B. Handfield, Ph.D., is Bank of America University Distinguished Professor of Supply Chain Management in the College of Management at North Carolina State University. He also is Co-Director of the Supply Chain Resource Cooperative (http:// scrc.ncsu.edu). Dr. Handfield serves as Consulting Editor of the Journal of Operations Management and is on the editorial board of several leading academic journals. His research focuses on strategic sourcing, supply market intelligence, supplier relationship management, and sourcing overseas. He has served in consulting and executive education roles for more than 20 Fortune 500 companies.

Robert M. Monczka, Ph.D., is the former Distinguished Research Professor of Supply Chain Management in the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and Professor Emeritus at the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management, Michigan State University. He also served as director of Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain Strategy Research at CAPS Research, where he led initiatives focused on sourcing and supply strategy innovation, development, and implementation. A frequent speaker at professional meetings, Dr. Monczka has published more than 200 books and articles. He has consulted worldwide with leading companies in the Fortune 100 and has received two National Science Foundation grants to study supply strategy.

Jim Patterson brings both practical and academic experience to the 4th edition of PURCHASING AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT . He holds a BS in accounting from Western Kentucky University, an MS in systems management from the University of Southern California, an MBA from Western Michigan University, and a PhD from Michigan State University. He taught several operations and supply-chain management courses at Western Illinois, and is affiliated with the Association for Experiential Education and the Center of Contemporary Business Issues. Jim has published journal articles in PRACTIX: BEST PRACTICES IN PURCHASING & SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT and the EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF PURCHASING & SUPPLY MANAGEMENT.
