Robert Anderson received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley. In addition, he received in 1959 from the Sorbonne his Docteur de 1#39;Universite de Paris, with mention Tres Honorable. He has taught sociology and anthropology at Mills College since 1960, and was named Edward Hohfield #39;Professor of Anthropology in 1969. He has authored, with B. G. Anderson, The Vanishing Village and Bus Stop for Paris: The Transformation of a French Village and has written numerous articles. Dr. Anderson#39;s other books include Traditional Europe: A Study in Anthropology and History, and Modern Europe: An Anthropological Perspective.
