Michael L. Butterworth (PhD, Indiana University) is director and associate professor of the School of Communication Studies at Ohio University.� He is the author of Baseball and Rhetorics of Purity: The National Pastime and American Identity during the War on Terror , as well numerous scholarly articles in such journals as Communication and Critical/Cultural Studies , Communication & Sport , Communication , Culture & Critique , Critical Studies in Media Communication , and the Quarterly Journal of Speech .� He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in communication and sport, with particular emphasis on metaphor, myth, and politics.� He also serves as the founding executive… director for the International Association for Communication and Sport.
