Peter H. Wood is history professor emeritus at Duke University and author ofStrange New Land: African Americans, 1526-1776, among others.

Thomas ("Tim") Borstelmann is the Elwood N. and Katherine Thompson Distinguished Professor of Modern World History at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Elaine Tyler Mayis Regents Professor in the Departments of American Studies and History at the University of Minnesota.
