Cheryl Regehr is the Vice-Provost of Academic Programs for the University of Toronto as well as a Professor in the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work and the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto. Previously she was Dean of the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work and Director ofthe Centre for Applied Social Research and the Research Institute for Evidence-Based Social Work. In addition, she has been a member of several editorial boards for international scholarly journals and of committees adjudicating grants for national granting councils. Her practice background includes20 years of direct service in forensic social work and emergency mental health and in the administration… of mental health programs. As a forensic social worker, she specialized in workplace trauma interventions and civil litigation and criminal court assessments of trauma victims and violentoffenders. Her current research focuses on the impact of workplace trauma exposure on performance and decision-making of emergency service and child welfare professionals. Karima Kanani is a lawyer and partner in the Health Industry Group of Miller Thomson LLP. She routinely provides legal advice to healthcare and social service organizations and professionals. She is a member of the Bar in Ontario, Canada, and in Massachusetts, US. She holds a Juris Doctor and Masterof Social Work from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Women's Studies from McGill University. Her past experience in social work includes the Intensive Care Unit of the Toronto Western Hospital, the Mediation Unit of the Ontario Human Rights Commission, and theHealth Services Appeal and Review Board of the Ontario Health Boards Secretariat. In addition, Karima is presently a member of the Research Ethics Board at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto. Her research efforts to date have focused primarily on examining the intersectionsbetween law and social work, and she has published in this area both nationally and internationally. In 2003, she was recognized for the quality of her research and writing, receiving first place in a national competition sponsored by Canadian Lawyers for Social Responsibility.

Her program of research involves examining aspects of recovery from trauma in such diverse populations as victims of rape, firefighters witnessing traumatic events, and child-welfare workers threatened with violence. Her current researchfocuses on the impact of operational reviews on emergency service responders following a critical… incident in an attempt to understand the interaction effects of organizationally based stressors and the traumatic event in exacerbating stress reactions.Graham D. Glancy is a founding member of THE PSILEX GROUP, a group which provides consultation to the legal/medical community, correctional facilities, and others. He has been an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto since 1982. In this position he has been involved ineducation and research in forensic psychiatry, and has published a number of papers on this and related subjects. Dr Glancy has also been appointed Assistant Clinical Professor at McMaster University in Hamilton. Dr Glancy helped to institute and run the Sex Offender Treatment Program at the ClarkeInstitute between 1985 and 1990 and still runs the follow-up group to this program, the Relapse Prevention Group, at the Clarke Institute.
