Poet and editor Mick Imlah was born on September 26, 1956. He attended Magdalen College and later taught there as a junior fellow. He published two collections of poetry: Birthmarks (1988) and The Lost Leader (2008), which won the 2008 Forward Prize. He was the editor of Poetry Review from 1983 to 1986 and edited The New Penguin Book of Scottish Verse with Robert Crawford in 2000. He died as a result of motor neurone disease on January 12, 2009 at the age of 52.
