Robert Bernard Reich is a writer, educator, politician, and advisor. He was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on June 24, 1946. Reich earned his B.A. at Dartmouth College in 1968 and received a Rhodes scholarship to attend Oxford University, where he earned his M.A. in 1970. In 1973, he received his J.D. from Yale University. Reich was an assistant to the Solicitor General in the U.S. Department of Justice from 1974 to 1976. He directed the policy planning staff of the Federal Trade Commission from 1976 to 1981 and taught on the faculty of Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government from 1981 to 1992. He became the 22nd Secretary of Labor in 1993 under President Bill Clinton.… Reich became the University Professor and the Maurice B. Hexter Professor of Social and Economic Policy at Brandies University in 1997. He also serves as the editorial chairman of The American Prospect magazine. Reich has had articles published in every major newspaper in the United States, as well as many magazines. He has written six books, including his 1997 biography, Locked in the Cabinet. He has also hosted three public television programs.
