Description:

If a hungry little traveler shows up at your house, you might want to give him a cookie. If you give him a cookie, he's going to ask for a glass of milk. He'll want to look in a mirror to make sure he doesn't have a milk mustache, and then he'll ask for a pair of scissors to give himself a trim.... The consequences of giving a cookie to this energetic mouse run the young host ragged, but young readers will come away smiling at the antics that tumble like dominoes through the pages of this delightful picture book. 1986-87 Alabama Young Readers' Choice Award, K-1 1987-88 California Young Readers' Medal 1988 Colorado Children's Book Award 1988 Georgia Children's Picture Story Book Award 1988-89 Nevada Young Readers' Award 1989 Buckeye Children's Book Award, K-2 (Ohio) A Reading Rainbow Featured Selection

Laura Joffe Numeroff was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 14, 1953. When the time came for her to choose a college, she only applied to Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn for fashion design. She hated everything about it and ended up taking a class in writing and illustrating books for children because it sounded like a great class. She received an assignment to write and illustrate a children's book, and after completing it, made several attempts to get it published. After only 4 rejections, Macmillan bought it. She graduated from college with a degree and a contract for her first book. Since then she has written over twenty books including If You Give a Mouse a Cookie; What Mommies Do Best, What Daddies Do Best; Laura Numeroff's Ten Step Guide to Living with Your Monster; and Phoebe Dexter Has Harriet Peterson's Sniffles. She has received numerous awards including the Buckeye Children's Book Award in 1989, the Quill Award for If You Give a Pig a Party in 2006, and the Milner Award in 2007. Two of her books were selected for Oprah's Kid's Reading List. Her title Ponyella made the New York Times Best Seller List for 2011. Her title If You Give a Dog a Donut earned her a spot on Publisher's Weekly Best Seller List for 2011. In 2012 her title It's Pumpkin Day, Mouse! made The New York Times Best Seller List.

Felicia Bond was born in Yokohoma, Japan in 1954 but was raised in New York and Texas. She received a B.F.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1976 and lived for ten years in New York City, writing and illustrating books and working as an art director at Margaret K. McElderny Books. Bond is the New York Times bestselling illustrator of many beloved books for children, including the If You Give a ... series, written by Laura Numeroff. In 2012 she was acknowledged again by the New York Times for her work It's Pumpkin Day, Mouse!
