JAMES RAFFAN is a prolific writer, speaker, geographer and past executive director of the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough, Ontario. The author of numerous books, including the bestselling Emperor of the North, Bark, Skin & Cedar, and Fire in the Bones, he has written for a variety of media outlets including print, radio and television. He is a fellow international of the Explorers Club, a past chair of the Arctic Institute of North America, and a fellow and past governor of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, a service for which he was awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal, the Camsell Medal and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal.
