Janice Kulyk Keefer was born in Toronto, Canada in 1953. She was educated at the University of Toronto and the University of Sussex, England where she received her doctorate in English Literature. Her novel "The Green Library" was nominated for a Governor General' s award. She won the CBC Radio Literary Competition, for fiction, for "Mrs. Putnam at the Planetarium," and "The Wind." She received the National Magazine Award for poetry for "Fields" and the Malahat Long Poem Prize for, "Isle of Demons." She is also the winner of the 1999 Canadian Authors Association Award for Poetry. She currently resides in Ontario, Canada and teaches at the University of Guelph.
