It\u2019s National Book Month! First created in 2003 by the National Book Foundation, National Book Month is a time to celebrate our love for authors, books and reading. Whether you read paperbacks, eBooks or listen to audiobooks \u2013 we encourage you to take part in this cozy, literary holiday and grab a new or old book and read, read, read!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reasons We\u2019re Celebrating Books This Month at TextbookRush:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>To honor our country\u2019s best authors.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.takingcharge.csh.umn.edu\/reading-stress-relief\" title=\"Reading for Stress relief \u2013 University of Minnesota\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noreferrer noopener\">Because reading books reduces stress<\/a>.<\/li><li>Because reading provides us with knowledge.<\/li><li>Because reading expands our vocabulary.<\/li><li>Because a book has the power to transport us somewhere we\u2019ve never been.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How You Can Observe National Book Month:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Write and Thank an Author<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Have you recently read a book that shot straight to the top of the list of your favorite books? Reach out to the author and tell him or her! Visit the author\u2019s website (contact page) to send a thank you, leave a comment on an Instagram post of theirs, or send a Tweet telling them how much you loved their book, the book\u2019s message and story, or its characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visit Your Local Library<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Libraries aren\u2019t just for children, their entertainment and knowledge playgrounds for adults too. What better way to celebrate books than to pay a visit to and support the place that houses them and makes them readily available (free!)  to <em>everyone<\/em>. Visit your local library if you haven\u2019t been in a while and see what they have to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Read A New Book<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>October just oozes cozy-up-and-read vibes \u2013 making it the perfect time to read a new book in celebration of National Book Month. But don\u2019t stop once the month is over. Make a book bucket list now and try to read at least one book a month. Check out the list at the end of this article for some newly released October reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Put Up A Bookshelf<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether it\u2019s a D.I.Y. project or a simple <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Wallniture-Mounted-Multipurpose-Storage-Display\/dp\/B07VNSXJC8\/\" title=\"Buy a floating bookshelf at Amazon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noreferrer noopener\">floating bookshelf<\/a> off Amazon, pick out a group of your favorite reads from your book collection and put them on display. And don\u2019t pick books solely meant to impress visiting friends or family. Pick the books that mean something to YOU. They\u2019re the ones that deserve to be seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Post to Social Media<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the hashtag #NationalBookMonth and tell others about a book or author important to you or share with others a book you\u2019re currently reading and why you chose to read it. Encourage others to follow suit, and maybe you\u2019ll find your next read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reread Your Favorite Book<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Head back to that secret garden, return to OZ, take a train to Hogwarts. Pick up a favorite story you haven\u2019t read in years and use this month to revisit faraway places and say hello to old friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ready to get in the bookish spirit?
