Seller notes: Orson Welles (1915-1985) was an American actor, director, screenwriter, and producer who is remembered for his innovative work in film, radio, and theatre. He is considered to be among the greatest and most influential filmmakers of all time. His first film Citizen Kane (1941), which he co-wrote, produced, directed and starred in as the title character, has been consistently ranked as one of the greatest films ever made. He was also famous for producing the radio adaptation of H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds in 1938, which caused mass panic, when some listeners believe the story to be real. Simon Callow CBE (b. 1949) is a British actor. Known as a character actor on stage and screen, he has received numerous accolades including an Olivier Award and Screen Actors Guild Award as well as nominations for two BAFTA Awards. He was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to acting by Queen Elizabeth II in 1999. This two volume biography is fine, with both volumes in black cloth with gilt titles on the spines. No marks or damage at all. The unclipped dust jackets are also pristine. The first volume is incribed by Callow on the title page "To Paul, Simon Callow, 30III95 Manchester" The second volume is signed by Callow on the title page, with no inscription. Both volumes are the "true" UK first editions..
