Horst Friebolin did his Ph.D. under the supervison of Prof. R. Mecke at the University of Freiburg, Germany, in 1963. Between 1963 and 1979 he worked at the Institute for electronic materials at the Fraunhofer Society and at the Institute for Macromolecular Chemistry at the University of Heidelberg. After two years in industry (BASF, Ludwigshafen, Germany) he finished 1971 his habilitation and joined in 1972 the Institute for Organic Chemistry at the University of Heidelberg, where he was appointed full Professor in 1974. His research fields are the isolation and characterization of natural products as well as enzyme-catalyzed reactions.#60;br#62;
