He also served as chairman of the Montana Governor�s Task Force on Technology. As a Distinguished Alumni recipient at the University of Montana , he has authored or coauthored six books in the fields of administration, reading, and technology, and written numerous articles published in major educational journals. Additional honors and awards include The International Reading Association�s Presidential Service Award, NAESP�s National Distinguished Principal Award, Milken Family Foundation's National Outstanding Educator Award, The John F. Kennedy Center's Award for Arts in Education, and Japan 's International Mathematics Soroban Institute Award.
