The follow-up to the best selling comics event BLACKEST NIGHT, written by Geoff Johns and Peter Tomasi! Once dead, twelve heroes and villains have been resurrected by a white light expelled deep within the center of the earth. Called a miracle by many and a sign of the apocalypse by others, the reasons behind their rebirth remain a mystery. Now, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Firestorm, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Deadman, Jade, Osiris, Hawk, Captain Boomerang and Zoom must discover the mysterious reason behind their return and uncover the secret that binds them all in this first volume of a three part series. This volume includes issues 0-7.

Geoff Johns was born in 1973 in Detroit, Michigan. As a child, Johns and his brother first discovered comics through an old box of comics they found in their grandmother's attic, which included copies of Flash, Superman, Green Lantern, Batman from the 1960s and 1970s. Johns eventually began to patronize a comics shop in Traverse City, recalling that the first new comics he bought were Crisis on Infinite Earth and Flash, as the latter was his favorite character. As Johns continued collecting comics, he gravitated toward DC Comics and later Vertigo Comics, and also drew comics. After graduating from Clarkston High School in 1991, he studied media arts, screenwriting, film production and film theory at Michigan State University and graduated from Michigan State in 1995. Johns met up with DC Comics personnel Eddie Berganza who invited Johns to tour the DC Comics offices, and offered Johns the opportunity to pitch ideas, which led to Johns pitching Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E., a book based on the second Star-Spangled Kid and her stepfather, to editor Chuck Kim a year later. John's soon became a regular writer on such series as The Flash and The Avengers United. He also writes for series such as Teen Titans and The Future is Now. His title Earth One made The New York Times Best Seller List for 2012.

PETER J. TOMASI, a life-long New Yorker, is an NYU grad with degrees in political science and filmmaking. Peter has helped re-imagine many characters and books over the course of his extensive and exclusive career at DC Comics as a writer and editor. Peter's current projects include GREEN LANTERN CORPS and BATMAN and ROBIN. His recent writing credits include BRIGHTEST DAY, GREEN LANTERN: EMERALD WARRIORS,a BATMAN: BLACKEST KNIGHT, THE OUTSIDERS, NIGHTWING, PHANTOM STRANGER, BLACK ADAM THE DARK AGE, FINAL CRISIS: REQUIEM, and many others, including his critically-acclaimed graphic novel Light Brigade.
