JAMES F. KRILE is the director of the Blandin Community Leadership Program (BCLP). Since 1985, over four thousand people from rural Minnesota have taken part in this program, which includes a five-day residential retreat and two follow-up workshops. In an independent evaluation of the program, John F. Jones, PhD, of the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work described BCLP as a model for training anywhere in the world.

DUANE R. LUND is senior consultant to the Blandin Foundation and was a part of the original design and implementation team for the Blandin Community Leadership Program. He has a long background in education and public service, including twenty-five years as superintendent of schools in Staples, MN, and several years as staff member and chief of staff for the late U.S. Senator Edward J. Thye. He is the author of thirty-nine books, including Lessons in Leadership: Mostly Learned the Hard Way and Our Historic Upper Mississippi. He is the first-named honoree in the Dr. Duane R. Lund Staples Community Service Award. He holds a doctorate from the University of Minnesota.
