Matthew Broderick is an American film and stage actor. He was born on born March 21, 1962 in New York City; his father, James Joseph Broderick, was also an actor and his mother, Patricia (née Biow) was a playwright, actress, and painter. Broderick first was noticed when acting in an Off-Broadway production of Torch Song Trilogy. He went on to play a roles on Broadway in Brighton Beach Memoirs and Biloxi Blues, both written by Neil Simon. In 1983 he won his first Tony Award for Brighton Beach Memoirs and to date he remains the youngest-ever actor to win Featured Actor in a Play.
