NICHOLAS ROUKES was born and raised in San Jose, California, and is a graduate of California State University, Fresno, and Stanford University. An author, artist, and humorologist, he is well known in the field of art education for his lectures and books on art and creativity, and for his long-time advocacy of humor in the arts. He is Professor Emeritus of Art at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada.
