Raquel Chang-Rodriguez is Distinguished Professor of Spanish American literature and culture at the Graduate Center and the City College (CCNY) of the City University of New York (CUNY) where she has served as Chair of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (1995-00). Among other books, she has authored Hidden Messages. Representation and Resistance in Andean Colonial Drama (Bucknell University Press, 1999), studying plays written in Spanish and Quechua. She is the editor of La cultura letrada en la Nueva Espana del siglo XVII (Siglo XXI-UNAM, 2002), the second volume of a new history of Mexican literature, where she also contributed the chapter on lyric poetry. Malva E. Filer is Professor of Spanish-American literature at the Graduate Center and Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY), where she serves as Deputy Chair. A specialist in contemporary narrative, she has written books on Julio Cort�zar and Antonio Di Benedetto. Her publications include critical essays on the major authors of Spanish America, from Jorge Luis Borges to Severo Sarduy, appearing in refereed journals and collections such as as The Final Island.
