Deirdre David is Professor Emerita of English at Temple University. She is the author of several books, including Rule Britannia: Women, Empire, and Victorian Writing, and the editor of The Cambridge Companion to the Victorian Novel.Elise Lemire is the author of "Miscegenation": Making Race in America, also available from the University of Pennsylvania Press. She is Associate Professor of Literature at Purchase College, State University of New York.
