Audie Murphy was a decorated American soldier during World War II. He went on to a long film career. He was killed in a plane crash in 1971 at age forty-six.

Brokaw has won every major award in broadcast journalism, including two DuPonts, a Peabody Award, & several Emmys. He is the author of the bestselling books "The Greatest Generation" & "The Greatest Generation Speaks". He lives in New York & Montana.
