Eugene Hargrove received his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri, has done post-doctorate research at the University of Vienna, and has held a Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship in Environmental Affairs. He has taught at the University of New Mexico, the University of Georgia, and the University of North Texas, where he has been chair of the Philosophy Department. As the founding editor of the journal Environmental Ethics, Hargrove has exercised a leadership role in the development of that field.
