Art Wolfe was born on September 13, 1951 in Seattle. He grew up loving the outdoors and has a cherished memory of coming face to face with a moose as he was canoeing on the Bowron Lakes in Canada. He attended the University of Washington and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Arts Education. At that time photography was just an elective, but he soon incorporated his knowledge of the arts into his love of photography.
