Community Health Education Methods: A Practical Guide is designed to assist you in effectively communicating messages and impacting norms and behaviors of individuals and communities. It is a book about the methods we use as health educators-the ways in which we tell a story and empower others to seek healthy lifestyles. It explains the basic tools we need in order to communicate messages to those we are trying to serve and provides us with an understanding of the skills we need to make a difference. This edition has been expanded in several ways, all of which are designed to provide both student and practitioner with an expanded understanding of the application of skills related to the practice of health education. New to this edition are chapters that focus on models of health communication and marketing; the application of theory and ethics in health education; expanded skills associated with presentations, different types of group facilitation, and media advocacy. Although maintaining a practitioner's focus, new perspectives from national leaders in health education have been intertwined into both new and existing chapters. In addition, the format of each chapter has been made more user friendly by including a common chapter format, key terms, vignettes, additional resources, and interesting factoids within each chapter.

Robert Bensley is an adventurer, teacher, traveler, writer, husband, father, coach, grant writer, historian, truth seeker, idealist, runner who is on a continuous journey to find the delicate balance between the oxymorons in which we live. He lives in Schoolcraft, Michigan with his wife, Kathy, their four children, a few dogs and cats, a rabbit, and a couple of nameless chickens.
