John Pina Craven has a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa (as well as a J.D. from George Washington University), & was awarded two distinguished Civilian Service Awards, the Navy's highest honor for civilians, among many other honors. After leaving the Navy he was Dean of Marine Programs at the University of Hawaii (as well as professor of law). He is currently president of the Common Heritage Corporation & lives in Honolulu, Hawaii.
