Joan Z. Spade is Professor and Chair of Sociology at the State University of New York College at Brockport. She received her PhD from State University of New York at Buffalo and her B.A. from State university of New York at Geneseo. In addition to gender, Joan teaches courses on education, family, research methods, and statistics. She has published articles on gender, including rape. She also has co-edited two books in education. Joan is active in Sociologists for Women and Society, the Eastern Sociological Society, and the American Sociological Association.
