Would you like to get your students more active in Geology, both in and out of the classroom, or are you familiar with Google Earth™ but not sure where to start? The Geotours Workbook created by Scott and Beth Wilkerson (in association with Stephen Marshak) answers these questions with Geotours--active-learning tours that take students on virtual field trips to see outstanding examples of geology around the world. Arranged by topic, and with an accompanying custom Google Earth™ file of pre-loaded starting points, these worksheets ask students to observe and measure real-world geologic sites, deepening their understanding of important concepts from the textbook. Further, the text includes both an easy start-up guide, and a ten-page tutorial helping students quickly develop their own Google Earth™ Projects. Available as a free bundle with Marshak’s Earth and Essentials of Geology textbooks, this title can also stand alone or work as a supplement in any course where students need hands on experience with Google Earth™.

Stephen Marshak is Professor of Geology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where he is also the Director of the School of Earth, Society, and Environment. He holds an AB from Cornell University, an MS from the University of Arizona, and a PhD from Columbia University. Steve's research interests lie in structural geology and tectonics. This work has taken him into the field on multiple continents. He has also won his college's and university's highest teaching awards. In addition to research papers and Earth: Portrait of a Planet, Steve has authored Essentials of Geology; and has co-authored Laboratory Manual for Introductory Geology; Earth Structure: An Introduction to Structural Geology and Tectonics; and Basic Methods of Structural Geology.
