One of five siblings, Gregg Kleiner grew up in rural Oregon splashing in creeks and climbing trees, milking goats, and playing the French Horn. At age 16, he spent a year as an AFS exchange student in the mountains of northern Thailand, where he lived in a Buddhist monastery for a month. Although he didn't wear a lot of pink as a boy, the color has grown on him, and he hopes we might all wake up tomorrow and see the particular shade of pink featured in this book - his first for children (and their adults). His novel for adults, Where River Turns to Sky, was a finalist for both the Paterson Fiction Prize and the Oregon Book Award, and was optioned for a feature film by Fox Searchlight.
