Kathi Kamen Goldmark was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 18, 1948. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Antioch College in 1971 and a Masters degree from Goddard College in 1974. She was a musician, songwriter, radio producer, and author. Her books include The Great Rock and Roll Joke Book written with Dave Marsh, And My Shoes Keep Walking Back to You, and Write That Book Already!: The Tough Love You Need to Get Published Now written with Sam Barry. In 1992, she recruited a dozen well-known authors to join her in putting on a rock and roll show at a book convention. The group was called the Rock Bottom Remainders and performed until 2010 to raise money for charity. In 2008, she… received the Women's National Book Association Award. She died of cancer on May 24, 2012 at the age of 63.
