The Rev. Gayle Jackson T Jackson was born Aug. l, 1913, in Greenbriar, Missouri. He became an evangelist/minister at the age of 19, and held his first revival in Memphis, Tenn. On July 16, 1931 he married Evelyn C. Newbill. He preached and held revivals in tents and churches across the United States for more than 50 years. Jackson was featured in a 1951 issue of Look Magazine, along with Billy Graham and Oral Roberts, as the three most powerful evangelists of the 20th century. He founded the First Assembly of God Church in Sikeston in 1939, and he and his wife pastored there until 1949. He continued as an active evangelist in the Assemblies of God movement until 1982. The First Assembly of… God Church in Sikeston honored him in 1989 during the 50th year celebration of the establishment of the church. He died at age 77 on September 15. 1990.
