ALFREDO MIRAND� is a professor of sociology and ethnic studies at the University of California, Riverside. He has a JD from the Stan-ford University School of Law and is the author of six books, including The Stanford Law Chronicles: Doin' Time on the Farm. He maintains a small pro bono law practice.
