Alex Rabinowitch, a world renowned authority on the history of the Russian Revolution, first came to Indiana University to teach in the 1968-1969 academic year. During a distinguished career that included the publication of The Bolsheviks Come to Power: The Revolution of 1917 in Petrograd and Prelude to Revolution: The Petrograd Bolsheviks and the July 1917 Uprising, Alex taught countless numbers of undergraduates and trained over twenty doctoral students in Soviet history.
