Rita Kogler Carver holds an MFA in Lighting Design from New York University, and a BA in Design from Cedar Crest College. She is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829 and NABET Local 16. Ms. Carver is also a member of IES, IALD and ESTA. Ms. Carver is a sought after speaker, lecturer, and writer. Her specialty is the topic of emerging technologies, addressing their uses and conceptualizing outside-the-box applications. Ms. Carver won an Emmy Award for her Lighting Design work on the "2000 Sydney Olympics." She also won an Emmy nomination for the "Montel Williams Show" as well as a Silver Axiem Award. She won a Silver Axiem Award for "Elmo's World." Ms. Carver is currently the… executive artistic director of DragonFly Performing Arts, Inc. and a managing member of BearFly Designs, LLC. Ms. Carver's television projects include the Systems and Lighting Design for the world premier of the Middle East Television Network. Additional Systems Design credits include the Time Warner Building in Columbus Circle, the Bloomberg World Headquarters, and ABC/Disney Times Square Studios. Currently in process is the Systems and Lighting Design for The Beacon Institute's Building ONE project. Other television credits include Good Morning America, PrimeTime Live, Discovery News, ESPN Sports Century and the Saturday Night Fever Broadway Tour - National Commercial. Ms. Carver has also worked professionally as a theatrically trained designer for almost 20 years. She has worked as an Associate Lighting Designer in Broadway Theatre - both on and off, Regional Theatre, Dance and Opera - both American and European. Productions include An American Daughter, Once Upon a Mattress, A Delicate Balance, The Sisters Rosensweig, Guys and Dolls, The Pointer Sisters' Ain't Misbehavin', and Paper Moon.
