I like this text book a great deal. The continuing focus on DAP builds the students 'dependence' on it as a source for guidance in teaching
The focus on NAEYC guidance also helps students recognize the significance of professional organizations.
This book's chapters are the perfect match for the content we think is essential to introduce in our entry level class
They each are wonderfully written for a beginning Early Childhood Education student to familiarize themselves with appropriate choices for curriculum, center design, and instructional strategies.
This text is an amazingly comprehensive book! The writing is clear and easy to read
The topics covered are all the important ones and they are well organized
I am very impressed and congratulate the author on doing such a fine job! Professor
Celebrating Diversity encourages teachers of young children to think about the positive benefit of diversity in their classroom and the community
Maintains a strong emphasis on literacy and language
(Two full chapters: 9 & 10.) A Teacher Speaks at the end of each chapter captures real-world experiences from practicing teachers
Theory into Practice suggestions are easily found at the end of each chapter to highlight TIPs for applying theory in real classrooms
Marginal icons appear each time the NAEYC guidelines are referenced, highlighting the best practices put forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children
Icons throughout denote Internet links and cue the reader to supplemental reading with content on the Companion Website for this book
Short Parents boxes found throughout each chapter provide suggestions for teachers on communicating with parents of children in their classrooms
New to This Edition An Expert Speaks. A content expert weighs in on a current issues in each of the content chapters (Chs. 9-15)
A greater emphasis on the observation and assessment, formerly Chapter 15, has been enhanced and moved up to Chapter 7. Reorganized for greater usability, the content has been divided into two parts: Foundations (Chs. 1-8) and curriculum (Chs. 9-15)
The Integrating the Curriculum section in each content area chapter features a new theme exploring Who Are We? Author Bio: The author graduated from Texas Tech University with an Ed.D. in early childhood education in 1980
