Crispian Scully is Director of Special Projects at the UCL-Eastman Dental Institute (EDI); Professor of Special Care Dentistry; Chairman of International Federation of Oral Medicine; Past-President of European Association of Oral Medicine; and Vice-President of International Academy of OralOncology. He is co-director of the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for oral health, disability and culture, and a member of National Centre for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). He is Visiting Professor at various universities in Europe. He was Dean at EDI 1993-2008, gaining theQueen's Award for Higher and Further Education - the first in dentistry. His book Medical Problems in… Dentistry was awarded the Doody Prize; and Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine won the Society of Authors Prize. He has received the CBE, University of Helsinki Medal of Honour, University of Santiagode Compostela Medal, Fellowship of UCL and honorary degrees from the Universities of Athens, Granada and Pretoria. Athanasios Kalantzis studied dentistry in Athens and became a scholar for postgraduate studies of the Institution of National Scholarships of Greece. He studied Medicine in Sheffield,UK and is a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and of the European Association of Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgeons. He is Fellow in Training of the International Academy of Oral Oncology. His clinicalexperience includes posts in General Dental Practice, Oral Surgery, and Oral Pathology amongst others. He has published research and literature review papers in peer reviewed journals. He has taught junior oral and maxillofacial trainees for several years both informally and formally as demonstratorand lecturer. He has served as Members Rep of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as well as Officer of the Junior Trainees Group.
