Michelangelo Buonarroti(14751564) was a sculptor, architect, painter, and poet of the Italian Renaissance. He exerted a tremendous influence on his contemporaries and on subsequent Western art in general. Anthony Mortimeris a former visiting professor of comparative literature at the University of Lausanne and visiting research fellow at Merton College, Oxford.
