Rudiger Bubner was born May 9, 1941 in Luedenscheid, Germany. He attended the University of Tuebingen, University of Vienna, and Oxford University and received his Ph.D. from the University of Heidelberg in 1964. Bubner has taught philosophy at the University of Frankfurt and the University of Tuebingen. Bubner's writings include Dialektik und Wissenschaft (Dialectic and Science), Handlung, Sprache und Vernunft (Action, Language and Reason), Zur Sache der Dialektik (The Matter of Dialectic), Modern German Philosophy (translated by Eric Matthews), and Geschictsprozesse und Handlungsnormen (Historical Processes and Norms of Action), and Essays in Hermeneutics and Critical Theory.
