Harlan West has been designing and illustrating publications since 1987 and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing with a concentration in Illustration from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a second Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is a successful art director who has produced hundreds of design projects for clients including Kaiser Permanente, Metro (Los Angeles County Transportation Commission), Metrolink, Norwalk Transit, Time Warner Cable, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, the Washington Metrorail Safety Commission and Pathways Strategic Communications. These projects consist of annual… reports, billboards, press kits, interactive pieces, magazines, newsletters, posters, elevator wraps, building banners and signage, event promotions, presentations and more for print and online mediums. During the course of his career, Harlan West has won multiple awards and accolades from public relations, printing, transportation, communications and advertising associations among these are the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA Prism Award), American Federation of Advertising (AFA California Coastal Division, ADDY Award), American Planning Association (1st Place APA), American Transportation Planning Association (APTA) and Association of Cable Communicators (Beacon Award).In 2009, Mr. West illustrated the winning poster for the annual Strawberry Festival in Oxnard, CA. In addition, he illustrated the popular textbook, Talk Your Head Off, Pearson/Regents Prentice Hall which is sold worldwide for English as a Second Language (ESL) learners to aid with conversational English. He also illustrated the cover of the Cold Stove League, a fictional novel published by Academy Publishers in Chicago.
