Choosing Success in Community College and Beyondmeets the needs of occupational students at two-year institutions. By incorporating a decision-making focus into every chapter, it emphasizes accountability and conveys to students how important they are in their own success. Students do not merely become successful, but rather they choose to be successful. Choice starts with the decision to acquire a secondary education, and from then on everything students do is based on their decision-making skills. The more they practice good decision-making, the more control they have over their successes and failures. This book is unique in that it provides students with a process for decision-making as well as numerous opportunities to think through the choices and decisions they face as a college student - and beyond.

Rhonda H. Atkinson is currently an assistant professor at Central Missouri State University where she teaches college reading classes in a unique format that combines the reading course, a 3-credit course in social studies, and a Supplemental Instruction (peer-led) study group. Additionally, Rhonda is a curriculum writer whose topics have included industrial construction trades, environmental education, healthcare topics for ESL adults, corrections education, teacher education, health education, and ombudsman training. She has served as the advisor for two collegiate groups: Gamma Beta Phi (national honors/service organization) and the National Society for Collegiate Scholars (honors/service/leadership organization for freshman and sophomore students). Rhonda is active in professional organizations at the regional and national levels.
