Ed Schultz was born in Norfolk, Virginia on January 27, 1954. After graduating from Minnesota State University Moorhead, he played professional football in the CFL for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. A thirty-year veteran of broadcasting, he has won three Eric Sevareid Awards and has managed and been lead talent for a broadcast team that has won two Marconis and a Peabody Award. He is currently the host of The Ed Show, a daily news program on MSNBC, and The Ed Schultz Show, a nationally syndicated progressive talk radio show.
