Mark E. Hazen is an engineer, inventor, teacher, lecturer, and author in the fields of electronics and technology. A longstanding member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Hazen taught Electronics at DeVry Institute of Technology in Phoenix, Ariz. in the early 1980s. He also began his writing career there. In 1987, Hazen and his family moved to Florida so that he could write electronics textbooks full-time. Since then, Hazen has written four college-level textbooks for electronics that are commonly used in many colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. The titles include Alternative Energy, Experiencing Electricity and Electronics, Fundamentals of DC… and AC Circuits, and Exploring Electronic Devices. A professor of electronics at Brevard Community College in Palm Bay, Fla., Hazen is also the lead technical training specialist for product training at Harris Semiconductor in Melbourne, Fla. In addition, Hazen holds the patent on a programmable pulse-width modulated power controller.
