Get ready to join an exciting journey that takes you from pedal power to jumbo jets and steam trains to speed boats.

Paul Ress was born and educated (Yale, B.A.) in the United States. For close to 30 years he was a foreign correspondent in France, starting with the Paris Herald and ending with 15 years at Time Magazine. During those years, he also wrote stories for Fortune, Life, and Sports Illustrated, and published articles in Harper's Bazaar and Le Monde Diplomatique. Between the Paris Herald and Time, he worked For The United Press And The Chicago Tribune, contributed stories To The New York Times and Reuters, and reported extensively For The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). While working For The Chicago Tribune, he visited almost every town in France with a population (at the time) of over 25,000 people to report on everything from Romanesque churches and Roman ruins to eccentric individuals and prominent artists. In 1975 he moved to Geneva where he has worked for a dozen United Nations agencies and about 10 non-governmental organizations. As a staff writer For The United Nations Environment Programme, his job consisted of writing and distributing stories about endangered species, The ozone layer, biological diversity, climate change, toxic chemicals, and Mediterranean pollution. In addition to environmental issues, he publicized the activities of the World Health Organization in the fields of child and maternal health, active ageing, The anti-tobacco campaign, immunization And The health status of indigenous peoples. Although Paul Ress has spent most of his life in Europe, he returns several times every year To The United States to see his three children and seven grandchildren and to maintain old friendships. He still lives in Geneva, where he walks his dog four or five times a day in a nearby park and goes to a modest bistro every night for dinner with his shaggy dog.
