Dr. Carole Schroeder BSN, MS, PhD, RN has spent the last 40 years working in the U.S. medical care system as a nurse clinician, researcher, tenured Professor of nursing, and prolific writer. Dr. Schroeder has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles critically evaluating the medical care system. She is also the mother of a child born with serious heart problems, and the wife of a man diagnosed with prostate cancer. Dr. Schroeder draws on all of this experience to critically evaluate the prostate cancer industry, and help men and their partners avoid medical harm. Dr. Schroeder earned her doctorate in nursing in 1993 from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Washington in Health Systems. She then accepted a faculty position at the highly ranked School of Nursing at the University of Washington, and spent the next 20 years conducting research, educating students, and writing about the medical care system. Dr. Schroeder retired from academia in 2010 and moved to the Methow Valley in Washington. Dr. Schroeder is critical of overdiagnosis and ineffective treatments of the cancer industry, and works to prevent medical harm of overdiagnosis and ineffective treatments with her writing and research. Dr. Schroeder also blogs about the billion dollar prostate cancer care system, compiling and critically analyzing research studies in order to expose the flaws in what we are all told about prostate cancer.
