Supply Chain Optimization captures the latest results in a segment of current research activity in supply chain management. This research area focuses on applying optimization techniques to supply chain management problems. The research papers that make up the volume provide a snapshot of state-of-the-art optimization methods within the field. This book presents rigorous modelling approaches for supply chain operations problems with a goal of improving supply chain performance (or the performance of some segment thereof). It contains high-quality works from leading researchers in the field whose expertise fits within this scope. The book provides a diverse blend of research topics and novel modelling and solution approaches for difficult classes of supply chain operations, planning, and design problems.
Joseph Geunes is a Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Florida, where he has been a faculty member since 1998. His research focuses on applying operations research techniques to large-scale production and logistics planning problems. Professor Geunes serves as Co-Director of the Supply Chain And Logistics Engineering (SCALE) Research Center and as Director of the Outreach Engineering Management professional Masters Degree program at the University of Florida. He has co-authored more than 35 peer-reviewed journal articles, which have appeared in journals such as Operations Research, Mathematical Programming, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, IIE Transactions, and Naval Research Logistics. He also serves as an Associate Editor for OMEGA, Computers & IE, Decision Sciences, and the Journal of Industrial and Management Optimization, and is on the editorial boards of Production and Operations Management and the International Journal of Inventory Research. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the U.S. and Florida Departments of Transportation, the U.S. Navy, Merck & Co., and Motorola. Professor Geunes received a Ph.D. (1999) and MBA (1993) from Penn State University, as well as a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (1990) from Drexel University.
